ASIRT releases reports on five completed cases

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has completed investigations into five separate cases involving police services in Alberta. In each, the acting executive director reviewed the evidence and issued a written report setting out the findings and conclusions.

The full reports are now publicly available:

Edmonton Police Service – July 26, 2021 | Report
ASIRT was directed to investigate a serious injury following police use of a conducted energy weapon.

Calgary Police Service / RCMP – March 14–15, 2024 | Report
ASIRT was directed to investigate a fatal shooting involving the Calgary Police Service and RCMP during the execution of a warrant.

Edmonton Police Service – May 25, 2024 | Report
ASIRT was directed to investigate a shooting involving the Edmonton Police Service that wounded a man.

Edmonton Police Service / RCMP – June 20, 2024 | Report
ASIRT was directed to investigate a fatal shooting involving the Edmonton Police Service and RCMP in Leduc.

Edmonton Police Service – July 17, 2024 | Report
ASIRT was directed to investigate a fatal shooting on Whyte Avenue involving the Edmonton Police Service.

ASIRT operates within the Police Review Commission, an independent, civilian-led agency that investigates criminal allegations and public complaints involving police services in Alberta. ASIRT independently and objectively investigates incidents that result in death, serious injury and potential criminal offences involving all Alberta police services, as well as serious matters involving peace officers.
