The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has finished two separate investigations involving police services. In each case, ASIRT’s executive director reviewed the evidence and issued a written report outlining the findings and conclusions.

Lethbridge Police Service – April 2, 2025 | Report
ASIRT was directed to investigate after a man went into medical distress while in Lethbridge Police Service custody and later died in hospital.
Edmonton Police Service – Feb. 28, 2025 | Report
ASIRT was directed to investigate after a man went into medical distress and died following his arrest by Edmonton Police Service officers.
ASIRT is part of the Police Review Commission, an independent civilian-led agency. ASIRT investigates potential criminal offences involving police across Alberta, including cases where the actions of a police officer may have resulted in serious injury or death.
